After the rather patchy, badly named 'Late Late Service' album, it's excellent to hear a new worship album from Chris Lizotte that reflects the man's considerable talents. 'Perfect Love' is and edgy live recording with Chris backed by a tight three piece band leading the crowd in some soulful rock 'n' roll praise. A completely underrated songwriter equipped with one of those rasping voices that spits out the lyrics with complete abandon. It's a joy to hear him go for it! There's a distinct lack of hype here which is refreshing as he kicks into 'His Banner Over Me' to start everything off. Other highlights include the previously recorded 'You Know My Name' which is turned into a celebration of the security we find in Christ. Mr. Lizotte is capable of stripping everything down to a near whisper on the title cut and 'You Keep On Givin' To Me', letting the crowd worship. For me , I just love it when they let loose a little on the six minute strollin' bluesy workout 'You Keep on Givin' To Me'. The passion of the closing song 'Give Me Jesus' just makes me want to put the CD player on repeat and enjoy it again.

This is a raw, energetic and reflective album, fronted by one of America's most passionate and anointed songsmiths Chris Lizotte. It has a good mixture of praise, petition and intimate worship. The album starts with a rocking version of Kevin Prosch's "His Banner Over Me". The influence of Kevin Prosch is very evident at times, this being a positive one in this case. The whole album has a very guitar driven sound with good dynamics being created from a simple band. Many of the songs start with the electric guitar which will please some but certainly grate with others as the sound of the songs possibly becomes too predictable. The lyrical themes for many of the songs are excellent in many cases. The song "Give Me Jesus" cuts straight to the chase, in a longing and wonderfully simple way. Some of the songs though seem to lack direction at times, and start by talking about one theme and then going on to another which is unrelated. Overall though, the album is packed with great times of worship and is sensitively put together. The music and the lyrics do continue to grow on you with time. Chris Lizotte's underground following will appreciate this set.
