As you can read elsewhere in this mag, with his Isley Brothers past, Chris has the kind of R&B pedigree most gospel singers can only dream about. On this, his second gospel project, Chris shows himself to have a fine, fluidly soulful vocal style, reminiscent on the opening floater "Only The Lord Can Do That" to Aaron Neville, even down to some of Aaron's vocal trills. Elsewhere, there's a billowing "In My Dream" with Marvin Gaye-style harmonies, while the funky "Doing My Thing (For The Lord)" has a clarinet-like riff ala "Superstition". All in all, this is classy R&B gospel which deserves wide exposure.
