Veteran soul man Chris Jasper continues to prove that there is life after the Isley Brothers. 'Dance With You' follows Chris' habit of producing, playing every instrument and singing every vocal on his independent releases, so that, in truth, the set is really by a one man band. Chris' methodology does mean that the listener misses the feel and edge you get with multiple musicians and sometimes the programming, despite Chris' invention, gives a somewhat sterile sound. Having said that, Chris has pulled together a great set of songs from the smooth title track through the more bopping "Sweet Margie", the Boogie Back remix of "I Love You" and the funk of "Make Your Move". There are also a couple of curve balls to keep things interesting, a soulful rewrite called "Happy Birthday Love" that you won't have to guess the source for, and a laid back interpretation of the Diane Warren song "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" made famous by Aerosmith - and it does work well. Chris' faith might be a bit muted on the romantic songs but gets a bit more of a loose rein on the couple of inspirational tracks, "It's A Miracle" and "Show Somebody Love". Well worth checking out.
