Reviewed by Steve Best There can't be many people who haven't heard of the Isley Brothers, and Chris was right at the heart of the operation - he was the "Jasper" in the formidable writing combo of Isley/Jasper/Isley, as well as being a producer for the band. After the Isleys split in 1984, Chris formed the band 'Isley/Jasper/Isley' along with Isley brothers Marvin and Ernie, and they were responsible, among other hits, for the song "Caravan Of Love", which was, of course, covered in the UK by The Housemartins. Since 1988, Chris has been doing his own thing, releasing several albums on his own Gold City record label as well as writing for the likes of Gwen Stefani, Whitney Houston, Will Smith and Ice T. With this pedigree, it won't come as any surprise to find out that 'Amazing Love' is one classy, smooth record, with Chris doing just about everything bar the female backup vocals (which come courtesy of wife Margie). Time hasn't harmed Chris' voice one iota and these devotional R&B numbers have quality written all over them. Just sit back and soak it all up.
