The latest live-with-overdubs release from longstanding and award-winning gospel outfit the Chicago Mass Choir sees the troupe in fine form as they offer up a collection of songs that praise God at every turn. Once again, the slickness, skill and occasional raw fervour that you would expect from a CMC release is there in bucket loads but, perhaps most impressively, nearly each song has a different vocalist with the likes of Lemmie Battles, Cassandra Giles and choir president Dr Feranda Williamson all putting in stellar turns. Alternating between slow and fast songs at every juncture, things do tend to feel a touch stop-start and a decent run of higher energy numbers like "Thank You, Thank You Jesus" and "He Changed Me" would have been welcome. Nonetheless, this is an album where the obvious talents of band, lead singers and the choir as a whole shine through.
