Charlie was in fact featured in the very first issue of Cross Rhythms years before he made number one in Ireland with "My Forever Friend". Our Chas actually began his career singing karaoke before heading off into the wild frontier of country music. The sound on 'With You In Mind' is a cocktail of pure country - mixed with cowboy boots, hats and plenty of harmonica! Muso fact: Ric Sanders, of old folksters Fairport Convention fame, turns up to play fiddle! Just call me Doctor Pop! If you're familiar with country crooner Jim Reeves, this isn't far behind. Yes siree! He delivers songs with all the cheery aplomb of a Nashville singer. "Shine Your Light" is a thigh slappin' ditty that will get you line dancing and grabbin' yer pardner by the hand! That old classic "The Isle Of Innisfree" is given a gentle, smoochy laid-back country air, with plenty of melodic fiddle drifting in and out. We see the vulnerable, weepy side of life that country music is so good at portraying in "I Will Love You All My Life" (his big hit for Foster And Allen), the honest declaration of a man who tries his best muddling through life. The whole album is speckled with the things that life's made up of - God, love, lost loves, family. It has all the components, both musically and emotionally, of a top country gospel album. And the biggest surprise of all? Charlie Landsborough is a Liverpool lad who sounds more Nashville than Nashville does! So many copycat British country outfits descend into the pit of naffness. This doesn't - it's a top quality album that will capture the heart of even the most discriminating of country music lovers. Definitely a big yeehah!
