Charlie's music has always been difficult to categorise, often very easy listening which I think has helped broaden his appeal beyond the rather narrow confines of the British country music scene, from where he originally emerged. With regular new releases, my mind rather boggles as to how he can continue to write such good quality material as per the opener "A Very Fine Line" and the very catchy "Fog On The Brain". Long time friend and associate Pete Ware's backings are always tasteful and bring out the best in Charlie's melodious voice. There is a cover of the Hank Williams classic "Cold Cold Heart" plus two songs associated with Willie Nelson, "City Of New Orleans" and "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain", which receive fine, fresh treatments. But finally it's Charlie's winning ways with his own compositions which work best.
