Bradley was over 60 years old when he released his debut album after he had been discovered whilst working as a James Brown impersonator. This is his second album and although it is a contemporary soul record it has all the vibe of classic '70s soul and wears its influences on its sleeve. So, listening only brings out echoes of James Brown and Otis Redding - all those years impersonating the godfather of soul obviously paid off. Highlights include "Confusion" with its trippy intro and "Crying In The Chapel" (not to be confused with the Elvis number) as well as the mainstays of the album like "Strictly Reserved For You" and the jaunty "You Put The Flame On It" with its soulful swing and horns. If you're a fan of old school soul music, you can't go wrong with this. His label Daptone Records are doing a very good job of creating a retro soul revival and Bradley's voice is at the heart of it all.
