Charity Quin, a charming lady, with a name that sounds more like a band than a solo artist, wrote both the music and lyrics on this demo tape. Recorded in 1997 by this singer/songwriter fondly remembered for her Greenbelt appearances, at a studio in Suffolk, the tape has three very different tracks. The first "The Return" reminded me of the '86 Paul Field album 'Different Yet The Same' (which isn't too surprising as Dave Fitzgerald played sax on both recordings) with Charity's vocal sound a cross between Lou Lewis and Tanita Tikaram. I wasn't so keen on the other two tracks which were much more choral and have a noticable nod in the direction of Iona or Taize; but were smoothly performed in the more difficult vocal style. The tape was well produced, and was a useful introduction to an obviously talented lady.
