If you've followed our reviews of this popular album series down the years you'll know that we're far from enthusiastic. In fact, a check shows that the five albums originally released in 1994 and 1995 and now packaged in a box under the 'Cedarmont Gold Collection' moniker hardly hit the high spots. 'Silly Songs' got a three square review, 'Sunday School Songs' and 'Bible Songs' were awarded two squares, and 'Action Bible Songs' and Toddler Tunes' got the dreaded one square abysmal award. Well, were we way off in our original assessments? Have these Cedarmont Kids Classics revealed new hidden depths to justify their name? Sadly not. The production, by Sue and Mike Gay, still sounds cheap, predictable and as cheesy as a Kraft factory. The songs, largely from the songbooks of Victorian Sunday schools, often sound trite and stilted. And the singing, by an ensemble of American kiddywinkers, is ragged, shrill and occasionally off key. I know of no children of any age, who would enjoy these banal albums. Putting them in a package offering '91 Classic Songs For Kids' with '5 Hours Total Playing Time' is tantamount to child abuse.

Whoever gave this review obviously does not have children.
A bit cheesy to adults, yes, but so is Barney, Mr. Rogers,
and most good moral kid shows. All my children love a wide
range of music including Il Divo, Allison Krauss, Southern
Gospel, etc... But they all have enjoyed all the Cedarmont
Kids collection. I, for one, do not enjoy nor appreciate
kids entertainment being ruined by sly producers trying to
make it enjoyable for adults as well. IT'S FOR KIDS!! And
regardless of what you think, kids love it.
