Reviewed by Tom Lennie This is (another) compilation release from the ever youthful-looking 40-something veteran gospel singer who, according to the blurb offers "songs of encouragement, comfort, healing and love to lift all those who are feeling down for whatever reason". As such these songs comprise some of the gentler, emotionally soothing songs from CeCe's repertoire. They include a couple of tracks from her debut 1995 solo recording, 'Alone In His Presence' (including a sensitive version of Curtis Chapman's popular "His Strength Is Perfect"), which disc earned the vocalist a Grammy Award and two Dove accolades, including Female Vocalist Of The Year. A further two songs are picked from CeCe's next release, 'Everlasting Love' (1997), one from 'Alabaster Box' (1999), one from her self-titled 2001 album and a couple from the 2005 recording 'Purified', CeCe's seventh solo disc. While otherwise a pleasant though unexceptional album, on all tracks, Ms Winans delicate, velvety tones caress the soul and refresh the spirit, ministering healing balm to any wounded heart.

Are you hurting, feeling alone, contemplating on giving up or know someone who is? This CD is full of songs of encouragement, comfort, healing and love to lift all those who are feeling down for whatever reason. The Bible says whenever King Saul was being tormented by distressing spirits, he would call for a young shepherd boy named David who was skillful and anointed to play the harp for him, and Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him (1 Samuel 16:23). As you listen to these Songs of Emotional Healing, allow God to do what only He can do and Be Healed! |
