I won't deny that CeCe Winans is (or has been) one of the biggest names in gospel music, but if by putting on 'Live In The Throne Room' I'm supposed to "experience the experience," then I'm probably missing something. Sure she's a gifted singer with a first rate band and backing group, but my enthusiasm for engaging with it all soon waned. CeCe's show has more the feel of a late night cabaret performance than a gospel concert, an impression underlined by sparkly and lacy wardrobe choices. Things picked up a bit with "More Than I Wanted" and "Alabaster Box", but it was only with the last couple of tracks "King Of Kings (He's A Wonder)" and "Hallelujah Praise", that I gained any real sense of energy or excitement from watching the DVD.
