After 20 years at the top of their game, one of CCM's biggest bands who need very little introduction are back with another radio-ready album full of potential hits. Some strong melodies, matched with hard hitting lyrics, are the hallmark of this seven piece and they have not departed too far from this formula on 'Only Jesus'. All-enveloping, liquid chocolate tunes are well produced and right on point just like the title track which has already been released as a single. Over all the 12 cuts are the distinctive vocals of Mark Hall as he leads us through a number of songs that focus on making Jesus central in all aspects of life. Stand out tracks include the more reflective "Hands Of The Potter" which features male and female leads blending nicely together, along with "Start Right Here" which mixes things up with an edgy picked banjo intro. This foot stomper pulses and drives its way through to a bluesy chorus littered with violins. These tracks stand out above others as they offer something a little different to the MOR pop feel that is common throughout, highlighting the biggest problem I have with the album as a package. After a while, tracks tend to mix into one another and have a similar form. This has, in many ways, been a perennial problem for Casting Crowns with their distinctive sound and is not really a criticism. This album will please their many fans as they continue to plough a well-followed furrow, but may not have enough about it to attract a new raft of fans.

Product Description
The highly anticipated new album from the bestselling band Casting Crowns. On the heels of their 2016 release “The Very Next Thing” featuring chart topping songs such as “One Step Away,” “Oh My Soul” and “God of all My Days,” Casting Crowns is set to deliver a brand-new album full of songs that deliver timely messages of hope that will challenge the listener to look beyond themselves and to the One whose name will last forever. Of the title track and concept of the album, “Only Jesus,” lead singer Mark Hall says: “There’s much talk these days about legacy. How do we want to be remembered? The more I think about it the more I’m reminded that anything in me that’s worth remembering are the things that Jesus has worked on, and is still working on in me. On my own I have nothing to offer the world, but Jesus does - so don’t mind me. Jesus is the only name to remember.”
