This compilation puts together recordings by the multi-Platinum hitmakers which are a mixture of original songs written by the splendidly talented Mark Hall, plus some renditions of popular hymnal oldies like "I Surrender All" and Southern gospel "Sweet Beulah Land". This isn't a new compilation, it was originally put together for the American retail chain Cracker Barrel, but with a new sleeve Provident Label Group (Authentic Media in the UK) think that there is some Christian retail sales potential in releasing Casting Crowns' stirring renditions of these worship anthems to Joe Public again. The absolute best song here is Hall's classic "If We Are The Body", though I have to say that it's stretching it a bit to call the song a hymn and, rather oddly, the version here comes from 'The Acoustic Sessions Vol 1' rather than 2003's 'Casting Crowns' album. Another slight snag is that a few of the tracks here are in their slightly shorter radio edit versions. But I don't think these quibbles will affect sales too much and this set retains its ability to stir the heart.
