For more than a decade Canton Jones has been creating ministry focussed gospel music, making an impact and always trying to communicate a positive message. This fusion of R&B and hip-hop features a combination of Jones and guest hip-hop artists contributing and co-producing material for this mix tape. 'Lust, Drugs & Gospel' is meant as a warm up for his next album, 'God City USA' and it's certainly value for money though at 18 tracks feels a little over-extended in places. The standout tracks for me are "Prodigal Daughter" and "Murderer" which illustrate Jones' compassion and belief that God's redemption reaches beyond mistakes, giving us a second chance while there is a delicious groove and message on "Kingdom Figures". Overall, though this mixtape has its moments it feels something like a stop gap release.
