The talented Mr Jones like many contemporary artists folds together elements of gospel, R&B and hip-hop to create an infectious blend that leaps out of the speakers. Blessed with a soulful voice, 'Love Jones' seems to have an extra zest that has been lacking on previous recordings. Some of this stuff is just total genius. "Birthday" celebrates new birth whilst "Tried It All" has more of a hip-hop groove. "Time To Go" lets him show off his sweet soul chops and though the album sounds schizophrenic, it is all skilfully melted together into something which is distinctively his own. Most of all I've been loving the remake of an older song "Fix It" where Canton's dad is testifyin' and preaching up a storm down the phone. You can see where Jones Jnr gets it from! Love Jones? Definitely!
