And unstoppable, Candi certainly is. At the age of 78, this extraordinary force of nature shows absolutely no sign of slowing down, and on this, one of her R&B rather than gospel releases, she demonstrates that she can still deliver with old-school soul ballads, complete with horns, next to driving funk, propelled by the bass and drums of her sons, Marcel and Marcus Williams. Nick Lowe's "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace Love & Understanding" has always been a great song and, in the hands of a supreme diva like Candi, it hits home like never before. One reviewer recently suggested that 'Unstoppable' "frequently resembles a state-of-the-nation address, using personal motifs to comment on the global zeitgeist. Certainly her six minute composition 'Revolution Of Change' fuses gospel and protest in an impassioned plea to change our world through love." A class album from a class act.
