The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers are a 17-piece offshoot of the Grammy Award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. 'Only To Him' is a re-issued CD from 1993 and it's amazing how quickly many of the songs have acquired a very dated feel to them. The tracks which have weathered the least are the up tempo gospel numbers including the solid renditions of "Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord" and "God Is Gonna Finish Just What He Started". However, even the fine backing musicians and strong voices are not able to bring the slower numbers to life. It would be difficult to question the integrity and commitment of this group but it's also difficult to see why they felt it necessary to re-release this particular collection.
