Now firmly established in the upper echelons of the worship song movers and shakers, Brenton here delivers his third solo album. Clearly things are good in Brenton's life as the mood throughout is upbeat and joyful with fine production from Nashville's hitmaking team Jason Ingram and Rusty Varenkamp bringing out the passion of the songs. The press release for the opener "Our God Is Mercy" calls it "shamelessly euphoric" and I think that nails it pretty well with its crescendos of slow building drums and ringing guitars. A track seemingly made for stadium worship, this is a true gem. Equally effective is the track "Glorious" with its Kings Of Leon vibe while the surging, joyful (utilising lyrics penned by US ambassador and professor of literature at Princeton in the early 1900s, Henry van Dyke) is one of the best modern adaptations yet of an old hymn. Throughout the songwriting, with Brenton penning numbers with Hillsong's Marty Sampson, Britain's Nick Herbert, Ireland's Eoghan Heaslip and others, is of a high quality and there are surely a couple of songs here destined to connect with the international Church.
