Anyone like American singer/songwriter Bob Kilpatrick, who's recorded 20 or so albums in a vast variety of styles, has little left to prove. On this live set (the year and location of which aren't indicated on the sleeve) the veteran shows his ability to handle pop rock (his band's drummer impresses on "Love Mercy"), gospel blues (with tasty Hammond organ on "Sweet Jesus") and folky songs full of lyrics and concepts straight from Scripture. There's a light hearted love ballad "Cindy's Song" with some amusing verses but a decidedly banal chorus, a satirical sideswipe at denominationalism "The Box Song" and, most intriguing of all, a rendition of Kilpatrick's mega hit worship chorus "Lord Be Glorified" complete with amusing imitations of Sinatra, Elvis and the Beatles. The most moving moment is a bit of spoken testimony about his father's encounter with a five year old boy. No one can argue with the songsmith's sheer virtuosity.
