Despite being a fan of rock music for many years, this is the first chance that I have had to listen to Bloodgood. My first impression of the album was its sameness, but after repeated listening the quality shone through. It opens with "Let My People Go", a strong start; but I can't detect any difference between it and the following number. "Eat The Flesh" is the best track on this side, featuring a superb lead break. The second side is an improvement on the first, starting with the excellent "Crucify1. Its haunting atmosphere was continued in "The Messiah" The lyrics are distinctly Rock, but with a hard-hitting Christian element. As for the musicianship, Paul Jackson's guitar work is impressive; Les Carlsen's vocals are clear and powerful, although he does have a stoically tendency to screech on the high notes. Michael Bloodgood's bass skills hold it all together. As an audio record of the band's live show, obviously their strong visuals cannot be captured. (Better get the video) This is however, a very good, well-produced album.
