As I said above, keeping each 'Homecoming Friends' must be hard and interesting. However, these 73 minutes are filled with the usual variety of community style singing and featured artists that kept my interest. You can't really call it Southern gospel but it features a lot of artists from that genre. It opens with a promising start, "It's Gonna Be A Good Day", and then country gospel's Jeff and Sheri Easter and Charlotte Ritchie bring in a country flavour with "Faith Like That". Janet Paschal gives a perfect rendition on the rather strange but acceptable lyrics of "Take This Trial Trip Beside Me" as does Vestal Goodman with the equally peculiarly-worded "There's Something About A Mountain" but then Vestal can make anything work! Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and the Lewis Family uphold the bluegrass flag whilst the Isaacs forsake their Bluegrass heritage to lead communal singing on "Did You 'Ever Go Sailing?". The result is beautiful. The only real Southern gospel items are by the Kingsmen and the Hoppers and Gloria Gaither comes in with one of her recitations. I could go on enthusing. It's one of the best in the series.
