Originally released in 1972, this album comprises a nice selection of Christmas material, but annoyingly it gives no details of who was in the Bill Gaither Trio at the time. There are one or two spoken introductions to some of the songs and whilst everything is very tastefully done and easy on the ear, it's not really very exciting. I just wish they had done a few more up-tempo Christmas songs. Still, if you are an enthusiastic supporter of the Gaithers you may enjoy this pleasant Christmas album.

I have the original vinyl released in 1972; any avid
listener to the trio at the time, knew the 3 members were
Bill & Gloria Gaither and Bill's brother Danny. I was going
through my stacks of vinyl and forgot that I had this
classic Christmas lp. I was somewhat disappointed that
only 2 of the songs were written by Bill & Gloria (for they
are such gifted writers). Amidst the traditional holiday
tunes, side 1 ends with "Redeeming Love" a new song penned
by Bill & Gloria (the song is combined with Hark the Herald
Angels Sing). The song is just so wonderful; a song of
beauty for the holiday. Side 2 ends with the other penned
new song by Bill & Gloria, "King of Kings". Wonderful
harmony is heard! I love side 2 starter
"C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S"; I had never heard this song before this
album. I really like the Caribbean styled "The Virgin Mary
Had a Baby Boy"; luv the bgvs. Wow! does the time go by,
it's almost that time again to bring out so many great
timeless tunes for the Christmas holiday. GOD Bless! - Don
