Bethany's previous self-titled release established her as a major figure in US CCM while her visit to Spring Harvest earlier this year showed that Bethany was more of a sensitive singer/songwriter than a purveyor of teen pop. A small-town girl from Bellefontaine, Ohio, Bethany has an ability to paint a picture with deep imaginative lyrics, rather like those of Bebo Norman. The teenager shows a maturity beyond her years. As I listened to the flowing lyrics I could feel a depth and hunger which comes across through her music. Sometimes sounding like a raw Rebecca St James but still a very individual sound, 'Imagination' flows from the first track to the last. Songs like "I Believe In You" and "Vagabond" are full of lyrical content but not so much that you're left confused as to what the song was all about. On her website she quotes William Blake, "What is now proved was once only imagination." I'm sure time will prove that this imaginative young lady will become a leader in her field.
