As you'll know from our recent article, Annie Wolaver and her siblings wow concert audiences with their unique blend of "chamber pop" which fuses classical, gospel, jazz and country and even momentarily resembles Bond. Here the focus is Christmas with the initial choral starter of "Sussex Carol" setting the scene. We sit through "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" before we hear Annie's fragile lead vocals accompanied by Benjamin on cello. Then half-way through, Camille plays piano with a jazz feel. This is not a predictable album and some may be puzzled by its rampant eclecticism. As well as traditional carols there are also original songs such as "Little Baby" which tends to fall into the more Christmas MOR/soft pop sound featured on many a Christian seasonal CD, which is a little disappointing, and "When The Christmas Baby Cries" which follows the more traditional classical mode. Their unique style works best on "We Three Kings" which manages to combine all the rich tapestry of talent in the right measure. Overall, we have an album promising much, and almost delivering the goods.

A family of world class musicians, the Annie Moses Band is made up of siblings Annie (24) on vocals and violin, Alex (21) on viola, Benjamin (19) on cello, Camille (17) on harp and piano and Gretchen (16) on mandolin and violin.
This Glorious Christmas, featuring original songs and Christmas favourites, is an eclectic blend of classical, jazz, folk and pop music that draws from the family’s musical journey from rural Oklahoma to the halls of The Julliard School. The CD features Christmas classics and original compositions.
The band are preparing a new studio album to be released in 2009.
“The Annie Moses Band displays a level of virtuosity that far exceeds their years. The music is refreshing and the message is powerful and uplifting. You don’t want to miss it! It’s great family entertainment.” Bill Gaither.

I remember the first time that I ever heard of this talented
family. I was watching Christmas videos on a gospel
station;and the band's video for "Red, White
& Blue Christmas" aired. I was immediately taken by the
song for the soldiers, and the vocals of Annie Wolaver.
Granted, Annie & her family band had been singing and
recording for years already. I just luved the song "Red,
White, & Blue Christmas"; Annie sang the song with sweet,
soft, grasping vocals. This song is definitely the cd hi
lite; even though it was a bonus track. A dvd concert of 5
songs adds to the package of this wonderment Christmas cd; I
was disappointed that the dvd did not include "Red, White
& Blue Christmas". I also like ...."Bethlehem, House of
Bread". This cd is quite a warm welcoming new sound for the
Christmas Holiday! Question -Are the parent's names Robin &
Bill ? i.e. the ones who wrote
"Red, White, & Blue Christmas". Thanks!
