Amongst the many achievements of the talented Irish born, Luton-based songwriter/worship leader is writing songs for Oxygen, but anything further from that team's snappy teen pop would be hard to imagine. On his solo debut, Andy offers stripped down acoustic songs which project a tremulous mood of poignant intimacy. A deft mixture of performance songs featuring personal insights into life and faith and songs more praise and worship in focus, his clear craft shows through. One number, based on Philippians 2:5-7, incisively deals with self-obsession and contains the most memorable couplet ("When was the last time you loved somebody/When you knocked yourself off number one?"). Elsewhere, there are haunting and wistful songs of love and devotion arranged simply but with intuitive sympathy.
