Somewhat confusingly coming a decade after 2008's 'Resurrection Letters Vol 2' album, this so-called first instalment of songs that take Jesus' victory over death as its central theme is yet another quality release from Illinois-based singer/songwriter Andrew Peterson. Employing Peterson's trademark soft vocal delivery set to an unassuming yet fulfilling musical backdrop, this is a poignant and quietly uplifting collection of pieces that shine fresh light on the events surrounding the moment in history which changed everything for fallen man. Honing in on the finer details surrounding Christ's resurrection, the stirring opener "His Heart Beats" succeeds in offering up something new in the field of Easter songs whilst the poignant "Risen Indeed" tells the story from Peter's point of view as well as neatly relating the events of the cross to the transition from winter to spring each year. Elsewhere, the asymmetric "I've Seen Too Much" makes you feel as if you were there at the tomb those two thousand years ago before the tender and beautiful call and response song "He Is Worthy" helps close this exemplary Peterson release in style.
