Although not a fan of instrumental albums, this really grew on me with each listening. I stress listening – this isn’t aural wallpaper like some ‘Praise On The …’ albums. Andrew Booth is a music student, and a pretty talented one at that. The album showcases his solo flute, but he also supplies all the keyboards and programming. The flute is wonderfully atmospheric and conveys a myriad of emotions through “When I Survey” to “Dyma Gariad – Here Is Love” via a Christmas medley and several excellent own compositions, notably the title track. The final track moves onto a prophetic level, blending a narration of Psalm 22 and images of the crucifixion and resurrection into a reprise of the title track. I would love to hear Andrew develop this prophetic edge in future recordings. The backing arrangements are carefully balanced with the flute and are enhanced with some excellent live percussion. Since recording the tape last year, which has sold extremely well at gigs and conferences, Andrew has re-mastered the whole album, re-recorded the title track with additional guitars and produced an even better CD version – well worth the extra five pounds. Buy this CD – you won’t be disappointed.
