It's amazing to think that a whole generation of Christian music fans have grown up unaware of the legend that was Andrae Crouch, and this excellent series, which has been digitally remastered, gives everyone an opportunity to discover some of the pioneers of the genre. It's impossible to overestimate the importance Crouch and his vocal aggregation The Disciples were to have on the direction of Christian music with their fusion of R&B rhythms to the trad gospel sound. Though some of these tracks from Light Records have dated a bit there are still plenty of winning Crouch compositions here soulfully sung by Danniebelle Hall, Bili Thedford, Sandra Crouch and all those other one time Disciples. Here we have 15 essential soul/gospel classics such as "I Don't Know Why Jesus Loves Me", "Jesus Is The Answer", "Soon And Very Soon" and "Through It All". If you have any interest at all in the history of CCM, this album is an absolute must.

I agree with the above writer, that this cd is definitely
ccm history. I was kind'a disppointed that the above
writer's summary on Andrae was a little on the short side.
This is the cd to have! Full of the early sound of ccm. Soo
many artists in the ccm field have recorded his songs to
date. The cd starter song is one of my favorites, "The Blood
Will Never Lose it's
Power"; Clay Crosse did a superb cover of this song in the
late 90's. As a young believer, I recall singing "I'm Gonna
Keep on Singing" (I believe Bill Gaither Trio covered this
song). "My Tribute (to GOD be the Glory) was a theme song
for a gospel tv station; I just luv this song immensely! How
often has "Soon and Very Soon" been sung, especially in
church congregations! In the mid to late 70's, recording
artist Bryan Rainbow recorded an lp entitled, "I Don't Know
Why JESUS Loved Me"; after Andrae's song: Bryan also
recorded a version of the late Larry Norman's popular song,
"I Wish We'd All Been Ready. The trio of today's ccm, DC
Talk also recorded a great cover of the song in the mid to
late 90's. Hats off to this wonderful
singer/songwriter/musician who has blessed us with soo many
wonderful songs that are still carried upon the wings of
believers today! GOD Bless! -Don
