'House Of Love', the 13th studio album from Amy Grant originally released in 1994, was her most commercial success. Containing hits that made an impact in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, it has finally been given the digital re-mastering it deserves. Instantly noticeable on opening track "Lucky One", Amy's voice benefits from the cleaner mix which paves the way for a fuller sound throughout the album. "House Of Love" has country music's Vince Gill sharing the mic, adding soulful tones that snuggle up to Amy's soft lyrical delivery so naturally, and "Whatever It Takes" is brought to life by her outstanding backing vocalists. But the most outstanding element of this recording is how Amy tackles the serious subject of love. Diligently describing situations when we depend upon love, you're left guessing as to whether she is sharing her personal experiences or her faith. "Helping Hand" demonstrates how love can aid us but "Our Love" talks about how it can also hurt us with "The Power" illustrating exactly what impact love can have. Placed half way along on this journey is the CCM star's sublime cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi", allowing Amy a chance to enjoy a lighter moment and introduce us to her influences. Still a great album after all these years, this recording has truly never sounded better.
