Nigerian born but based in America, it's been 10 years since Alache's last album but this seven-track release shows that the singer still has much to say. "Another Day" which opens proceedings is a catchy, banging dance track celebrating the very act of being alive. "Awaken Me" grooves along with an infectious rhythm and elsewhere Alache demonstrates her versatility across different styles. "Find Me" has a more R&B flavour and features rapping from Niko. There are two versions of the ballad "Heaven's Angel" and I think I prefer the stripped down acoustic version. "Hiding Place" is a gorgeous worshipful downbeat opportunity for Alache to show of her vocal talents and the whole thing concludes with "Same Tears Different Pain" which captures a moment of confusion and prayer. This is a strong set and her song writing, which captures the challenges and celebrations of normal life, matches melody with reality. If anything my only criticism is that it isn't longer.
