This has been out for some months but somehow got missed by Cross Rhythms reviews system. In keeping with the quality of music which we expect from Adrian Snell, this set continues a musical journey, exploring soundscapes of ever wider dimensions. The album is a mixture of contrasts; light and shade. The range of musical styles is eclectic; drum and bass with almost choral lyricism ("Come In From The Cold"); to echoes of Chris Rea ("Traveller In Time") and reggae backbeats ("This Close To You") to dance. Samples and looping feature on many tracks, without losing an almost orchestral feel to the arrangement of the components. What is particularly amazing is the range of vocal timbres achieved by Adrian Snell's vocals, from sinister whisperings ("Ghost") to the breathy choral soarings of "Come In From The Cold". The lyrics are stories of longing and yearning for relationship - with God; with one another; with the unborn child. This is a thoughtful incredibly well written, demanding album whose meaning and intent is not immediately apparent and requires, indeed deserves, repeated listening if the content is to be appreciated.
