Having, back in 2007, written and recorded a worship song classic "My Saviour, My God" it's not unsurprising that critics have subsequently scanned each new release from the Pennsylvania-based singer/songwriter to see whether they can identify another Dove Award-winner. But such things are in the hands of God. All I know is that 'Doxology', produced in Nashville by David Crowder Band's renowned drummer Christian Paschall, shows the same quality of his previous releases. His songs "How Majestic" and "Come Quickly" boldly declare Aaron's trust in our healer, rescuer and shelter in every storm while his "Oh Praise (The Only One)" would surely lift any congregation in adoration ("Oh praise the one true King/Lift it loud till earth and heaven ring/Every crown we lay down at his feet/Praise him, praise him"). In a recent interview Shust explained, "I have always been a part of the local church, and my new album is inspired by my time leading worship in the church. A doxology is a liturgy of praise to God, like a short exaltation at the end of a New Testament letter, or a song sung at the end of a church service. These songs are like a playlist for a praise and worship 'after party' at the end of time, around the Throne, celebrating the crowning of Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
