Aaron left the metalcore band Underoath last year because he wanted to do different things to the rest of the band. Reading between the lines, it seems he wanted to be more open about his faith, so I was very interested to hear that his first solo release was going to be a worship album. A most intriguing idea. Instead of a rock album like his band material (he's still in the band The Almost), Aaron has got together with a few well known worship leaders and created a relatively gentle pop album. On the sleeve Aaron talks about us all being part of the song that God sings, that our whole lives should be expressions of worship in the individual way that he has created us to be. Paul Baloche is a major writer on this album, which includes Baloche's song "Hosanna". There are songs which focus on loving God, but there are also songs about him loving us "in our brokenness, in our victories" ("Your Song Goes On Forever"). All of the songs are good, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the number co-written with Stu G, "Earnestly I Seek Thee", which is just stunning. Definitely a worship project well worth checking out.
