This is the solo debut from the singer best known to believers when he fronted the fine band Sabio (in fact there's a version of Sabio's classis song "Carry Me" on this set). The strength of Aaron's vocals is highlighted in the opening "Pure Beauty" where rather than building musically to the chorus, the arrangement drops away to just a light keyboard line and Aaron's rich voice - and it is carried off beautifully. The song writing is rich and varied and always augmented by the musical arrangement rather than over shadowed by it, particularly "Lifeline" which builds with some lovely strings and "Head In Her Hands", a powerful and sad look at a marriage in trouble and the grace that can overcome. The arrangements are then given the benefit of some excellent performances and production which results in an album that satisfies on a first listen and still does on the hundredth one. A fine album from one of the UK's most underated talents.
