The Sevens' first new music since 1995's 'Tom Tom Blues' is definitely an album of two halves, (Brian). Up to and including the single "Mr Magoo", a jaunty piece of jangly pop, the tone is relentlessly up. Short, concise pop songs of the kind you might have expected to hear earlier on in the band's career with cuts such as "Down From You" leaning a little more in the power pop direction, suddenly give way at track eight, "Related", to more dense, lengthy, introspective pieces. Whether or not such a clear divide was deliberate, it has to be said that the approach works, leaving 'Crows' as one of the most accessible 77s albums of recent years.
