Washington Phillips, Garfield Akers, Clara Ward on History Of Soul compilation

THE MAINSTREAM's History Of Soul Records have released a two CD project, 'Wade In The Water: History Of Soul Records' featuring 57 tracks recorded between 1927 and 1951. The artists featured include Washington Phillips, Blind Willie Johnson, Garfield Akers, Wynona Carr, Mahalia Jackson and Clara Ward. Commenting on the project the Red Lick catalogue wrote, "Diverse but brilliant." CR
