Veteran diva Candi Staton back with 'Unstoppable' album
R&B AND gospel veteran Candi Staton has released the 'Unstoppable' album on her own Beracah label. It was produced by Mark Nevers and features her sons Marcel and Marcus Williams on bass and drums respectively. Read a review in RnR magazine, "'Unstoppable' frequently resembles a state-of-the-nation address, using personal motifs to comment on the global zeitgeist. In the six minutes of her own 'Revolution Of Change', Staton, in Curtis Mayfield territory, gently but firmly fuses gospel and protest in an unabashed plea for subversion through love. Nick Lowe's '(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding' underscores this welcome message, Candi's delicate treatment drawing out the beauty of honest emotion at its core."
