Michaux receives accolade from Marvin Gaye's former wife Janis Gaye
AMERICAN blue-eyed soul/gospel artist Michaux has received an accolade from Janis Gaye, former wife of soul star Marvin Gaye. Michaux's latest CD 'What's Going On... Still...' features the singer's interpretations of songs originally released on Gaye's classic 1971 album 'What's Going On'. Said Janis, "I was doing a Google search and found Michaux and was completely blown away. He has done a bluesy, retro-style cover of Marvin's What's Going On album. It is not an imitation. It is an interpretation that we (the entire Gaye Family) love. The tracks are not overdone but they are powerful. His singing and music is organic, it's beautiful and it touched me."

Marvin Gaye’s music, and what he would have created, is still missed. Gaye’s “What’s Going On” was a departure from his love songs of the past. Inspired by his brother’s experiences in Vietnam, Gaye’s masterpiece was almost not released by Motown head Berry Gordy, who didn’t believe it was commercial.
