1,000 young recruits needed for The Urban Adventure
YOUTH CHARITY The Message and crow Rhythms ministry have formed an alliance to recruit 1,000 young people from across the North West to get involved in the outreach initiative 2K1 The Urban Adventure. The Manchester event will mix social action afternoon projects with morning teaching meetings and evening concerts held in the heart of the inner city. Starting on Saturday 25 August for five days, the 1,000 young people will hit the streets of Salford in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police and Salford City Council. They will be clearing litter and graffiti, gardening, painting, doing sporting activities and meetings the local teenagers.
The evening meeting, planned in a 2,500 seater marquee in Salford's Buile Hill Park, will be open to the public and will offer some of the best Christian bands - The Tribe, V*enna, Phatfish, Shine, MIC, Matt Redman - plus speakers such as Mike Pilavachi, Andy Hawthorne, Phil Wall and others.
Said Andy Hawthorne about the 2K1 initiative, "Message 2000 showed how preaching the Gospel in word and deed really works and we are hoping that a similar model may be used all over the country in the future and Cross Rhythms are helping us to spread the word about what has happened and what is happening and what could happen in the future."
