Bryan Duncan announces novel awards scheme tied into new album
CCM VETERAN Bryan Duncan has announced a unique concept tying in with the recent release of 'Still Dancin'' by Bryan Duncan And The NehoSoul Band. Said Duncan, ""When was the last time a music group turned the [awards] scenario around? The idea is to use the record to award those who could use the encouragement rather than wait for an award for the project itself. I have a room full of awards that nobody sees! Most records come out in hopes of achieving some kind of recognition for the work; usually in the way of sales, but further in the acceptance of an award of merit. It's time to give back. I've [taken] the implications of the new 'Still Dancin'' project and turned it into an award of merit presented to others in recognition of 'resilience'."
Readers and listeners are encouraged to submit for consideration themselves or those they feel are candidates for the Still Dancin' Award by stating in 250 words or less how the nominee's life has changed and how the person has changed to accommodate the difference with an ongoing attitude of discovery and hope. Submissions are to be sent to awards@bryand.com, and will be posted at Duncan's Myspace site (http://www.myspace.com/stilldancinawards). The name of the nominee can be kept confidential upon request. Every week one person will be awarded a Still Dancin' Award certificate and a copy of the CD 'Still Dancin'' preceded by a phone call from Duncan congratulating the recipient.
