Retro-soul band Echo release 'Soul Proprietor' album
PLANKTON Records have released the new album by East London and Essex-based retro-soul band Echo. Read a press release, "'Soul Proprietor' features 14 well-known (and some less well-known) soul and Motown tracks. From the 1964 Impressions classic 'People Get Ready' written by Curtis Mayfield through to the 1997 Brand New Heavies hit 'You Are The Universe' the band were determined to make this an album that was sung, played and recorded the highest possible standard. It has been a real labour of love since the journey started last October, as bandleader Greg Nash (bass guitar) and the other members of the band juggled arranging, recording and mixing sessions around the demands of full-time jobs and family, etc. But on listening to the finished album that features songs originally released by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, the Temptations, Melba Moore, Al Jarreau and others we think the hard work has all been so worthwhile." The project was produced by Richard Cottle.
