South Africa's Deborah Fraser being tipped for international stardom
US TRADE magazine Billboard have reported on the phenomenal rise in popularity of South African gospel singer Deborah Fraser. The Kwa-Zulu Natal-raised vocalist emerged in 2001 with the album 'Abanye Bayombona' and released her fourth set of self-written and traditional African gospel songs, 'Isililo', in April. In September Deborah was exposed to an international mass audience with the release of the various artists album 'World In Union: The Official Album Of The Rugby World Cup 2007' on which she sang the World Cup theme song "World In Union". Universal Music report that so far shipments of Deborah's album have passed one million units. Said Universal Music SA's Dharam Sewraj, "We're hoping the power of her voice and her brilliant performances will earn her global recognition."
