Sacred Harp singing from the 1920s featured on two new CDs.
TWO ALBUMS exploring the early Sacred Harp "shape note" singing, which was the origins of today's Southern gospel music, have been released by County Records. 'Allison's Sacred Harp Singers: Heaven's My Home 1927-1928' and 'Religion Is A Fortune: Sacred Harp Singing The Early 1900s' have already received enthusiastic reviews with Red Lick writing, "Lovers of American roots music, gospel music and old time must not ignore these beautifully produced CDs."
