The Cross Rhythms Roadshow plays Glossop, Derbyshire

THE MOST ambitious version yet of the Cross Rhythms Roadshow took place in Glossop, Derbyshire on 30th August Bank Holiday Monday. The event was sponsored by High Peaks Christian Centre, Glossop, co-ordinated by Fran James of Acts Promotions and featured Paul Brooks as DJ/presenter. The roadshow was part of a week of festivals overseen by the Glossop and District Arts Council. In addition to the disco, the roadshow presented live music from a string of British contemporary Christian artists including Pity The Small Thumbs, Nuffsed, Max, Julie Ann Thornton, Limitless Vision, Broken Dances and others. A crowd of 300 were entertained and ministered to in the town centre. Fran James commented, "The local business people described it as 'professional' and 'of a high standard', and they were surprised it hasn't cost thousands (of pounds)."

The driving force behind the Cross Rhythms Roadshow, Paul Brooks, spoke of its growth and how local churches can make use of its unique presentation of contemporary Christian music. "In keeping with the rest of the Cross Rhythms vision, its growth has been entirely organic. This has been honoured, as every step of the way God has met our needs financially and practically. The format is similar to the Radio One Roadshow, and the show is basically a live presentation of the Cross Rhythms radio programme with live music and a greater freedom to preach the Word. We believe the Roadshow is an excellent vehicle for attracting the young unchurched to hear the gospel preached."
