AN OBSCURE gospel album from the mid-'90s has been given mainstream shop distribution by Sony. Taste Of Heaven' by New Orleans gospel singer Raymond Myles was originally released by Honey Darling Records with a pressing of a hundred promotional copies. Now the album has been reissued by Sony Legacy. Myles was a major figure on the New Orleans gospel scene, performing at President Clinton's inauguration, singing for Pope John Paul II and being a popular figure at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. In October 1998, three years after recording the album, the 40-year-old singer was gunned down by a carjacker. The album has already received a rave review in Mojo magazine.
