Hodder to publish Psalms For Today and Songs From The Psalms
On May 17th, Hodder and Stoughton are publishing two worship resource books based on The Psalms - Psalms For Today and Songs From The Psalms. Psalms For Today is the more formal of the two, orientated towards the used of church organ and choir. Songs From The Psalms is angled towards the more contemporary worship style, but includes material drawn from sources such as the Taize community. A one volume words only edition will be available for congregational used.
"The song book of the Bible -the Psalms - is being jettisoned in a lot of worship" says David Peacock, one of the contributors to the project. "We see this as an opportunity for people to get back to the riches that are there as a resource for worship".
An event called The Glory Of The Psalms will be staged at the Albert Hall on 26th May, featuring a 500-voice choir, and the All Souls Symphony Orchestra. Much of the music from the books will be performed, and the evening will include contributions from Chris Rolinson, Chris Norton and David Suchet, of Inspector Poirot fame.
