Rev Clay Evans passes choir responsibility to Pastor Charles Jenkins
A LIVE CD/DVD is set to be recorded/filmed at the historic Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, on 30th May. The church, founded in 1950 by Rev Clay Evans, has become famed for its best selling gospel choir albums. The new CD/DVD 'Pastor Charles Jenkins And Fellowship Live: The Best Of Both Worlds' is the first choir album with Jenkins at the helm. Over the past five decades Rev Clay Evans, who ordained Rev Jessie Jackson, has recorded three dozen sermon LPs as well as such gospel hits as 1996's "I've Got A Testimony". A press release explains that "Jenkins is continuing the musical work Evans began in the 1950s and it represents a passing of the torch musically from the 84 year old Evans to the 34 year old Jenkins." Jenkins is known as a musician and songwriter having written "You've Been A Friend" featured on Israel & New Breed's Grammy winning 'Live In South Africa' CD.
