First album in 10 years for veteran R&B gospel man BeBe Winans
SIX TIME Grammy Award winner BeBe Winans has released his first album in 10 years. 'Need You' features a mix of gospel standards, his R&B stylings and some new sounds. The project also includes collaborations with his sister Debbie Winans Lowe, Donald Lawrence and Korean Soul. For the latter BeBe flew to Seoul, South Korea to record. The members of Korean Soul are signed to a development deal with BeBe's Destiny Productions. BeBe's thinking behind the album has come from his struggles and lessons over the years. He said, "For as long as I've been singing, I felt there was more behind the words to explore, especially in the time that we're living in. I've always loved songwriting after all these years, and as I was writing my musical 'Born For This' the music just flowed. This album is the culmination of the lessons I've learned through the struggles of balancing faith and fame." The album was produced by BeBe along with Gerald and David Langford, Donald Lawrence and Ron Gillyard.
Along with 'Need You', BeBe is also set to launch a book that reflects on his life and past experiences, Born For This: My Life In Music. The book talks about how a notorious TV preacher encouraged BeBe and CeCe Winans to perform as a duo, and the racism Winans discovered in church circles.
