MySpace website attracting numerous Christian companies as well as independent artists
AMERICAN trade magazine Christian Retailing ran an article on the MySpace phenomenon, Companies Use MySpace To Reach Teens. The article, by Amanda Doyle, reported, "Social networking internet site MySpace.com - long used by musicians - is being embraced by Christian product suppliers and even retailers looking to attract new customers. While the site has been a source of controversy recently due to cases involving internet predators, it boasts more than 100 million networked profiles and recently added a music store feature to allow artists and labels to sell songs directly from their pages. The site also has been imitated by Christian groups - including Mypraize.com, YourChristianSpace.com, Xianz.com and Holypal.com - trying to create the same feel and network with a specific Christian focus.
"MySpace also has become a hub for various local ministries, church
groups and even Christian companies, as its use of "bulletin" messages
sent to all an account's "friends", blogs and custom calendar
generators that allow members to publicly post upcoming events or
important dates in their area can update visitors."
even many christian bands that arent on there, have many fake myspace accounts setup up by fans that want to add their music to their personal pages. a great example of this is the hillsongunited account where the official account got deleted a number of times, by mistake as there were so many fake ones out there.
